Gary Evans
Handyman of the Quarter

Gary Evans is a native Austinite.  He is happily married to his wife Nancy of 31 years, and they reside in the Oak Hill area of southwest Austin.  They have five children, three grandchildren, and one grandchild on the way.  His father was in the construction business for over 40 years.  Gary's favorite hobby is bass fishing, but visiting the grandchildren has become rather important, too.

For 30 years, Gary has been pastor of a small Baptist church, and supplements his income as a home repair specialist. He has been building all kinds of stuff for many years but has really enjoyed working for Handyman Connection for the past five years.  Gary can multitask several types of repairs including drywall, painting, carpentry, etc., from a door knob to a remodel project. 

Gary enjoys the challenge of pleasing a customer with excellent craftmanship and particularly appreciates the opportunity to build lasting relationships with customers.

Jeannene Murphy

My name is Jeannene Murphy.  I am 48 years old.  I have 4 children from 26 years old to 11 years old.  I have lived in Austin for 16 years.  I was born and raised in Houston but Austin is my home.  I have been with Handyman Connection 5 years on 10/25/09.  My interest in handyman work comes from my dad who had his own roofing business for 22 years.  I would go on roofing jobs with him from the time I was very young.  I love doing home remodeling projects on my own home.  When I’m not working or  volunteering for PTA at my youngest daughter’s school, my all-time favorite hobby is scrapbooking.

Rene Salazar

My name is Rene Salazar.  I own Handyman Connection.  I have owned Handyman Connection for over 2 years.  I am passionate about customer service and doing the right thing.  My professional experience has been as a retail buyer for over 15 years - working for Foley’s Department store, JCPenney Corporate, Breed and Company, and Golfsmith.  I really enjoy home remodeling and doing repairs on my 65 year old home.  I have owned 4 homes in my lifetime and have remodeled all of them in some way, shape or form. 

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992.  I have lived in Austin for over 12 years.  I am originally from a small South Texas town called Falfurrias.  I am married to Kristine and I have 2 great kids Danny and Ben.  We love Austin and never want to leave. I love the Longhorns, hunting, playing sports, and spending time with my family.
